College: Was a standout player at the University of Illinois for head coach Lou Tepper from 1993 to 1996...Redshirted in 1992, he stepped in during the 1993 season for injured starter Jasper Strong and never let go of a first-string position; he was second on the Illini in receiving with 387 yards on 28 catches...Led the Illini in 1994 with 52 catches for 550 yards; those numbers were also good for fourth in the Big Ten...Also excelled on special teams; his coach for both receiving and special teams, Greg McMahon, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he was "the best special teamer and receiver I've ever had."...Ended his Illini career ranked second in school annals in receptions and receiving touchdowns.

Personal: Attended St. Louis University High School...Named to the All-Metro St. Louis first team by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in 1991, his senior season...Caught 15 touchdown passes in his senior season with the Junior Billikens; all of the tosses came off the arm of future Northwestern star QB Steve Schnur, who led the Wildcats to their historic 1996 Rose Bowl appearance...
